Day One Fine Art Painting What About Art, Rick Calzadilla

I thought I should get this rolling.
I am a painter and I paint out of doors on the Town lake hike and bike trail.
Quite an enriching experience! I have been doing this for almost two years. The air is fresh the noise is minimal, the lighting is fantastic and the people, - *well, they are people.
I have a small web site on geocities it is
http://www.geocities.com/pictures_98
I am updating it slowly. Feel free to write anything you like

All things conspiracy a modern contemporary abstract painting of the third kind. Everything you can possibly read or imagine about conspiracy, NWO, 11 dimensions, alternate universe, worm holes, super colliders and string theory, religion, magic, quantum physics. If these things interest you you should look up Wolfgang Pauli and Carl Jung, Plato and "The Mysteries". Surrealism and Alchemy their fascination with the Marquis De Sade. Pyramids and the reversing of polarity for levitation.

People keep asking about learning to paint and draw. I always suggest that people should start by drawing an egg. It is so simple that it is difficult . there are no devices you can use to mask errors. The shape of an egg recurs in many things from human form to modern designs.

On my way to the trail I saw two red headed wood peckers defending their roost from cowbirds. I will have to check on the images I tried to capture.

Read an article in Art news about what make a painting. I totally disagree with it as they use such words as collage, photography, decopage, hybbrid. i mean a collage is a collage, a photograph is a photograph. hybrid meand a combination of two or more. A tangerine is not an orange nor is it a lemon. It is a fruit. So instaead of trying to make a work of art out of a photograph and paint or mosaics or magazine cut outs and then calling it a painting, why not call it what it is. A mixed media art piece. Which is just as legitimate as a painting.

I met a man who likes to asses my painting. He thinks that all my work is graphical. Of course he does not know 1/10 of the works I have created. He only knows what he sees or chooses to see. He has gone as far as to say that he would do what I do (paint on the trail) except for the fact that he would not be able to face the fear of being poor. He assumes I guess, that he can paint as well as I . Anyway he asked me twenty questions about lifestyle. Where I live and what I eat and what I drive. Then he asked about health insurance. "So what do you do If you have a catalysmic disease?"
I said"It's all in Gods hands, if that happens. " Raeally in my mind though I was thinking, why doesn't he just go ahead and wish cancer upon me. As far as I can tell he is a man of means , retired from the corporate money life, but I think he is scared and in search of comfort. I get the impression that he secretly despises me. more later

I get the impression that he secretly despises me. First off I am outside all day, second I do what I love, third I am the best at what I do, fourth I do not have a boss, a wife or childeren, I really don't have any obligations, fifth I meet and know many wonderful people, sixth I know and just keep meeting some really beautiful women. I guess I would hate me too.

As for the graphical quality of my representation of water. I think that is what painting is all about
I think that everyone from Turner to Fredrick to Parish to David to Degas to Dali had a take on water. The thing about water is that it is not a solid, a crystal or ice it is fluid and as such subject to conditions of wind, flow, sky reflection, light and on and on. Well to say that water never looks like this or that is to say that white horses do not exist because you have never seen a white horse.

My name is Ricardo Calzadilla.
I am painter nothing less nothing more. I am happy as can be. I do not live in your box. If I get sick and die, well that will happen to just about everyone sooner than later. I believe that people will be dead much longer than they are living and breathing incarnate.

I met a couple the other day. They had just visited the new york metropolitan museum. They really were excited about their visit there. They said they preferred it to the Louvre ib paris. They seemed to enjoy the modern masters.
They recentley discovered Balthus.
he balthus would probably get into great trouble in the U.S. today if he painted what he used to.

I love to paint outdoors because of light , natural that is to say.
I have a new documntary film in works my fourth so far.
I have ideas for a new one many that is. I saw the shadow of an ant the other day.

Portraits, are quite a challenge. They take forever because the closer you get to finishing the more subtle you must be with each nearly invisible tint of color. Glaze after glaze after galze. hours on end. I recentley went on about 8 hours of sleep over three days. It can make you looney don't you know.
The greatest compliment I ever have recieved was from a woman who told me that painters are of a higher order than most people, because we look at things differnetly. She said our cause was noble and rife with strife and sacrifice. This was repeated to me somewhat just the other day by an engineer when he said that us painters tend to see things that he could not. I don't know. I just don't know. All I want to do is paint. i don't mean to piss anyone off. Soon I will be gone, nowhere to be found. high or low and in between you might look but shall not find. I know it won't matter, cause nothing really does. It's all in the nano particles, you know the bosons and the fermions.

i believe how ever that at the current rate I will before I am done , have created 1,596 paintings. Some shitty some not so shitty, some abosolutely dismal and some absolutely pure genius.
like my man Picasso felt art is only 50 percent in the object the other half is the audience and what they discern. So I have learned that there are a ton of dim witted bastards running around out there. Alife unexamined is a life not worth living. There is a hell of alot more to do out there than getting high and drinking yourself into a stupor trying to get laid. Do you dig. Reach baby reach and maybe just maybe your pound of flesh will actually be worth something. Think for yourself not for what otherrs may or may not think anout you. Who after all gives a flying fuck.

Donald took the purple micro-dot or was it the blue barrel and later hurdled the hood of a car. Everything was melting to a viscose liquid. Ambers, plums and lava. Do you dig painter of fine art?

PsycoJ Came down today.
My ears have been ringing off of the wal. Now I know why. Sometimes the best way to rid yourself of people is to piss them off or just video tape them.

I am exhausted and drained.
I was visited by a woman who said I was a "Magical Travellar from the seven sisters constellation.
A man name Bob recommends I move to Venice Beach in los Angles California. Says they really embrace outdoor artist there.

I am pissing more and more and more people off lately. It is because I paint in public. I don't do it on purpose it's just that they assume I am cool and groovey because I make art. They think I will agree with everything they say although in almost every case I am their complete antithesis. I have absolutely not one thing incommon with the common man or woman. I revere no one and i do not hold their truths as my own.

The other thing that happens is when I am painting I am usually in a zone far far away nirvana if you will, where noting really matters anyone can see, nothing really matters to me. So when I don't put my brushes down to talk to Mike the limo driver or John the retired c.e.o. they are ofeended

PainterTownLake said...

I want to thank Johnnie. He is a very intuitive individual. He said he was goingto say hello the other day but noticed I was painting. He did not want to interrupt.

I get a ton of old dudes that are the opposite . They tap their feet and or step on my equipmenyt and or get mad if I don't stop when I am painting. It is amazing, that some persons feel that I would rathertalk to them than paint. These are usually the types that are completely unclever smatasses, that think they are the only unclever dumbass who has tried to be funny all day. They have a sense of being the only people in the world. I think that happens when you are an ass, you wind up alone , and lonely and then you are an island. You are living in your own private Idaho.

The portrait at the top is of Meredith. She is beautiful, whimsical, animated kind and gracious. She is stunning as a model, however she is much more. She is an extremely gifted singer of the classical bent. I hope I get to work with her more, she is deligent and serious about her vocal talent, I don't know if she will afford me more time to photograph her. I can only hope to be so lucky!!!!! Thanks Mer, that is short for Merrydith

Rough and tuff the going gets when you try to do arrange a group show. It'll be nice when it is up but some-people don't cooperate or communicate. It is really exhausting trying to remeber who has failed to deliver there paperwork and then will they actually show up? I guess it's not like the entertainment 60's attitude where you just don't miss a gig. Last week was a wreck I would say that atleast four people flat out blew off an appointment(blew me of!). It's like appointment doesn't mean a thing. It's a state of mind that yeah maybe I will show up. The decline of western civilization is in full swing.
